High school itself has been challenging, and junior year has not made it any easier. All the school work, extracurricular activities, and my job have drowned me in stress. This traumatizing year is finally coming to an end, and I could not be more relieved. There are many things I am looking forward to next year such as Grad Night, graduation, and all my hard work paying off. The thought of my high school journey ending gives me a bitter sweet feeling but I believe I am ready to take on my final year and officially begin applying to colleges.
Junior year has been full of crazy experiences resulting in several lessons learned. My AP English and AP US History class have allowed me to grow and see things in a different perspective. They have definitely been thought-provoking and time consuming but they have given me the opportunity to grow as a student and manage my time better. I knew Advanced Placement classes would be a challenge; however, I took that challenge in order to improve my GPA so I have a better chance of getting accepted into a college of my preference.
Some colleges I am interested in are here in California. The Art Institutes is my top choice. I would like to pursue a career in the field of photography and after looking at many of the work from students at the Art Institutes I believe that I can gain the proper knowledge by attending. Other options I am considering are USC, Pepperdine, Stanford, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, and UC Santa Barbara. Going to a community college is not an option for me. All the hard work I am putting into this year as well as the previous years is worth much more than that. I’ve worked extremely hard and put in long hours of work; my high school stress will pay off with the acceptance of one of these colleges.
Junior year is coming to an end, and I am preparing myself for what is to come. I have been told by older siblings and friends that senior year is a breeze with the exception of all the college and scholarship applications. Although I am excited for senior year, I am not thinking about it much right now. Summer is just around the corner. Planned trips to Universal Studios and Las Vegas are what I am looking forward to this summer. Visiting my family from Las Vegas is always a great way to spend my summer and adding a trip to a theme park I’ve never been to adds to the excitement. Of course I have to put in long shifts at work before I can take my family anywhere, but I am definitely pumped up for bigger pay checks and being able to spend it on something myself and not any bills.
This last year has been quite a ride and I could not be happier that it is days from being over. I have found myself on the edge of giving up but coming to my senses and kept trying to be the best I can be. I have prepared myself in the best way possible as I exit my junior year. I have learned many things over the past few months that I will always remember and use to help me in my future. The girl that was once my beautiful girlfriend is no longer my girlfriend and I no longer have her amazing support, but she did something that completely changed everything for me. Towards the end of my first semester of junior year I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do it; I wasn’t sure that I was gonna be able to get back up after all the school work and negative situations had thrown me down. She left me with the mindset that I can get through this year and that I can graduate at the top of my class. It’s because of her that I am ranked 11 and it is because of her that I continue to strive for greatness. The things she did for me have never been done by anyone else, and that is why she will always hold a special place in my heart. I am one spot away from being top 10 and I plan on doing everything possible my senior year to make it and prove that what she did for me made a difference in my life. Senior year, I’m ready for you.
