Senior year is not what everyone said it would be. The stress and pressure of college applications, scholarships, and high school deadlines are kicking my butt. I have so many things on my plate from class assignments to rally schedules to yearbook page deadlines. However, the memories I’m making are some I will definitely cherish forever. Events like senior sunrise, football games, and rallies have all managed to make this year the best. Planning all these events is a drag, but the outcome of it are irreplaceable memories that I will not soon forget.
All the work that comes with senior year is making life dreadful, but at the end of the day, I’m happy to know that this is my final year before I can go on and start college. There are several things I need to get done before the semester ends. Some of those things are, level 4’s, projects, event planning, 72 pages of the yearbook, but most importantly have fun. I know that I will accomplish what I need to for my classes by January 22nd and I can definitely say, without hesitation, that this year has been my favorite. I have always been involved with school events, but this year, I made it my mission to do everything I can to make this year memorable for not just me, but every student at LHS.
Some of the events I’ve enjoyed the most have to be senior sunrise, homecoming week, and bell week. Some people may see senior sunrise as something pointless, but I see a huge meaning behind it. Starting off the year with our class and watching the sunrise together and then ending the year watching as the sunsets symbolizes the start and end of one of the best years as a teenager. What made senior sunrise so amazing was definitely the fact that 90% of the class was able to get together at the football field and just have a good time and of course the great food from Ihop we had afterwards. It was a great way to start off the year, but it’s only getting better. Homecoming week was full of excitement and laughter. After weeks of planning and hours of decorating, we kicked off the week with the intro rally and I, alongside with my good friend Hippo, announced the homecoming nominees. I always had a great time during the week of homecoming the previous years, but this year it was different. Seeing my very own friends being nominated and participating in the lunch time activities was a lot more entertaining. Although I enjoyed watching my friends boast in their dresses, drown their hair in shaving cream, licking peanut butter off plastic, and sliding across a tarp full of water and soap, my favorite part of this week was seeing so many students participate in the dress up days and the game itself. Like I said, I was determined to make this year memorable for everyone so I decided to purchase colored powder to use for our student section at the game. It did not turn out how I expected, but the student section was louder than ever and that was what really brought excitement to make it one of the best games I’ve attended as a cardinal. Bell week is by far my favorite event so far. The school spirit that week was unbelievable and the powder canons at the game really kicked off the best student section I have ever seen.
Senior year has come with a lot of stress, but at the end of the day, I am more than happy to be attending Lindsay High. So many great memories are being made and I know I would not be able to find a better group of friends to share them with at any other school. This year has been great so far, and I cannot wait to make the best of the rest of the year.
